BREAKING: Metrolink services stopped in Manchester city centre after 'collision' - live updates

Metrolink services through the city centre have been stopped following a 'collision'.

Emergency services are currently dealing with an incident on the corner of Mosley Street and Princess Street.

Some road closures have been put in place following the collision are affecting the trams. Police say they were called to the scene, outside Manchester Art Gallery, at 3.45pm.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "Emergency services are currently responding to a collision in Manchester city centre. We were called at around 3.45pm today to a report of a collision in the area of Mosley Street and Princess Street.

"Road closures have been put in place, which are affecting Metrolink services. Members of the public are asked to avoid the area." Anyone with information should contact police via gmp.police.uk quoting 1938 of June 3 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Disruption on the Metrolink is causing a few problems for cricket fans heading to Old Trafford tonight, where Lancs are taking on Northamptionshire Steelbacks in a T20 double header. Trams are currently running to the ground from the city centre, but only from Deansgate/Castlefield.
