BREAKING: Manchester trains facing delays and cancellations as 'trespassers' go on tracks - latest updates
Rail passengers heading to and from Greater Manchester are facing delays and cancellations ahead of rush hour due to trespassers. TransPennine Express says passengers can expect disruption on the line between Stalybridge and Huddersfield.
Disruption is expected to last until 8.45am today (September 7) due to the incident at Marsden, near Saddleworth. A spokesperson for TransPennine Express wrote on X (formerly Twitter): "Please be aware that due to trespassers on the railway between #Stalybridge and #Huddersfield all lines are blocked.
"Train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed. Disruption is expected until 08:45 07/09."

In a further update, TransPennine Express said: "Services will divert where possible via Hebden Bridge, and ticket acceptance is in place with Northern. Road replacement transport is being requested to run between Huddersfield and Manchester Piccadilly in both directions."

All lines have now reopened following an earlier trespassing incident, National Rail says.
However, services are set to face cancellations, delays of up to 40 minutes, or changes to run via Hebden Bridge over the next hour.
TransPennine Express tickets are being accepted on Northern services due to the disruption and passengers may be entitled to compensation for delays.
