BREAKING: Main road shut at busy junction as emergency services respond to crash - latest updates

A main road in Trafford has been closed this afternoon after a crash at a busy junction.

Shaftesbury Avenuein Timperley is blocked in both directions at the junction with Thorley Lane. Emergency services are currently at the scene, according to Transport for Greater Manchester.

Drivers are being urged to avoid the area. Some bus services are also being diverted.

TfGM said in a tweet: "Shaftesbury Avenue / Thorley Lane, Timperley. Roads closed in all directions at this junction. Emergency services are dealing with a collision. Re-route away from the area to avoid delays. Bus services on diversion @StagecoachGM @arrivanorthwest."

A tweet posted by Stagecoach said: "Route 11, Due to an RTC on the A560 at Shaftsbury Avenue services will divert via the 11A route Stockport Rd until the incident is resolved, please allow extra time for your journey with us this afternoon."
