BREAKING: M60 closed clockwise due to police incident - latest updates

All traffic has been stopped on the M60 clockwise following reports of a crash.

The motorway has been closed between Junction 20 for Middleton and Junction 21 for Broadway Interchange, according to Highways England.

According to Manc Traffic, a crash has occurred inside the roadworks. Traffic has been stopped and queues are said to be building.

No further details have been released about the nature of the incident. Greater Manchester Police have been approached for comment.

In a post on Twitter, Highways England said: "Please be aware the M60 is closed clockwise between J20 Middleton and J21 Whitegate due to a police led incident.

"Delays are building on approach. Please allow extra journey time if travelling in the area tonight. Updates to follow."
