BREAKING: Lanes closed and delays following crashes on M6 and M61 - latest updates
Drivers are facing queues on two busy Greater Manchester motorways following three crashes this morning. Two lanes of traffic were closed on the M61 southbound near Salford, between junctions two at the A580 and one for the M60.
Traffic is tailing back to junction four at Farnworth, according to the Inrix traffic monitoring system. Drivers are facing delays of around 15 minutes.
Both lanes of traffic have now reopened. Meanwhile, drivers are facing delays near Wigan following two smashes on the M6 southbound.

Two lanes are closed between junctions 24 at Ashton and 23 at Haydock, with traffic tailing back to junction 25 at Bryn. There is also slow traffic further down the M6 southbound between junctions 23 and 22 for Newton-le-Willows, following an earlier crash.
Further details about the nature of the incidents are yet to be confirmed. Emergency services have been approached for further information.
