BREAKING: Erling Haaland to Man City is ‘done deal’ - announcement expected this week
Manchester City are poised to announce the signing of Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland this week.
This is according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, one of the most respected and reliable journalists in the UK.
Ornstein says Haaland to City is a ‘done deal’ and says that confirmation is likely this week, according to sources in Germany.
It’s added that personal terms are complete and that Dortmund anticipate City informing them in the coming days of their intention to activate the 21-year-old’s €75 million release clause.
Erling Haaland: A huge coup for Manchester City
The deal is a major coup for City and the Premier League club’s manager, Pep Guardiola.
After missing out on Tottenham’s Harry Kane last summer, City put all their focus on signing Haaland ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.
And despite interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona, City appear to have won the race for the Norway international’s signature.
Widely regarded as the world’s best young centre-forward, Haaland – son of former City midfielder, Alf-Inge, has scored 85 goals in 88 games for Dortmund since joining the German club from Red Ball Salzburg in January 2020.
