BREAKING Air ambulance lands near major crash on East Lancs Road - latest updates
An air ambulance has been seen landing close to the scene of a major crash on the East Lancashire Road near Leigh,
The A580 eastbound is partially blocked following a collision between Higher Green Lane, in Astley, and the Greyhound Roundabout.
Long delays are being reported on both sides of the road approaching the scene.

Eyewitnesses have reported a large emergency services presence in the area.
An air ambulance has been pictured landing close to the scene, near to Higher Green Lane and the East Lancs Road.
An update from the Inrix traffic monitoring system this afternoon (March 15) said: "A580 East Lancashire Road eastbound partially blocked, queuing traffic due to accident between A574 Warrington Road (Greyhound Island, Leigh) and Higher Green Lane (Tyldesley).
"Congestion to the opposite side due to onlookers.
"Affecting traffic heading towards Manchester."
Greater Manchester Police, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and North West Ambulance Service have all been approached for comment.

One lane is now open on the East Lancs Road eastbound, with both lanes having previously been closed, according to Inrix.
Traffic is being diverted off the East Lancs Road and onto Manchester Road.
Stagecoach says bus services are being hit by delays as a result.
