BREAKING: A56 Manchester Road closed due to 'serious' crash
Police have closed the A56 in Trafford following a serious crash. Manchester Road is currently shut by Altrincham Retail Park.
It's understood the collision involved a car and a cyclist.
GMP Traffic are urging people to avoid the area. The unit tweeted: "Due to a serious road traffic collision, Manchester Road at the junction with George Richards Way by Altrincham Retail Park is closed while we investigate. Please avoid the area."
It's understood a cordon is in place between Sinderland Road and Atlantic Street.
Transport for Greater Manchester said closures are in place on the A56 Manchester Road between Sinderland Road and Atlantic Street and George Richards Way at Davenport Lane.
An update from traffic monitoring service Inrix at 4.28am said: "56 Manchester Road Northbound closed due to serious accident from Gladstone Road to Sinderland Road."
