Boy rushed to hospital after fall onto river bank in Stalybridge
A boy was rushed to hospital after he onto a river bank in Stalybridge. Emergency services were called to Huddersfield Road just after after 5.10pm on Friday (February 24) following reports of the incident.
Paramedics and firefighters worked together to free the boy from the embankment before he was taken to hospital. Fire services from Stalybridge, Mossley and Leigh were in attendance and spent one hour and 20 minutes at the scene.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Just after 5.10pm on Friday 24 February, fire crews were called to an incident on Huddersfield Road, Stalybridge.
“Two fire engines from Stalybridge and Mossley and the technical rescue unit from Leigh quickly attended the scene. The incident involved a boy falling from height onto a river embankment.
“Firefighters worked with paramedics to safely extricate the boy. He was then taken to hospital by colleagues from North West Ambulance Service (NWAS).
“GMFRS crews were in attendance for about an hour and 20 minutes.”
