Man rushed to hospital after being rescued from water at Salford Quays

A man has been rushed to hospital after being pulled out of the water at Salford Quays. Police and fire crews raced to the scene at The Quays on Tuesday evening (March 7).

Emergency services had received reports of someone in the water at around 4.45pm. Two fire engines as well as specialist rescue units, a rescue boat and officers from Greater Manchester Police attended the scene.

Witnesses reported seeing a 'large' response at the scene, with 'lots of fire and police' beside the water before a man was rescued from the water. Fire crews were at the scene for around an hour.

Further details about the man's condition have not yet been confirmed, but the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said he was being treated by paramedics and was then taken to hospital from the scene.

A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “At approximately 4.45pm on Tuesday 7 March, firefighters were called out to reports of someone in the water near The Quays, Salford.

“Two fire engines from Salford Fire Station, two rescue units from Leigh and a rescue boat from Eccles all quickly attended the scene and rescued a man from the water who is being treated by North West Ambulance Service.”

Greater Manchester Police have been approached for further details.
