Bowlers shine as Proteas restrict West Indies in deciding ODI
The Proteas will need to score 175 if they are to win the fourth and deciding one-day international against the West Indies after an excellent display by their bowlers at the Wanderers on Sunday.
The visitors could have scored far less as well if South Africa's fielding had been better with four chances going down.
Despite losing Rashad Williams (6) early on to the once again impressive Shabnim Ismael (4/44), it was Deandra Dottin who drove the West Indies forward as she has done for much of the series.
Dottin was ably supported by Kycia Knight (48) as the visitors raced to 57/1 after 11 overs.
South Africa reeled things back thanks to tight bowling by Ayabonga Khaka (2/22), Chloe Tryon (2/12) and Sune Luus (0/24).
Dottin was also hampered by an injury she picked up while attempting a single, and her innings slowed significantly until she finally departed for 36 off 63 balls caught by Luus off Ismael.
From that point, the West Indies struggled to gain any authority as they lost regular wickets.
While 175 seems within reach for the Proteas, it won't be an easy task on a wicket that is slow and taking turn.
They will also be without wicket-keeper Trisha Chetty, who is suffering from severe back spasms and won’t be able to bat.
Scores in brief
West Indies 174 all out
