Boss makes admission about Nottingham Forest deadline day signing as 'milestone' approaches

Defender Jonathan Panzo is continuing to build up his fitness, following his deadline day arrival at Nottingham Forest.

The 21-year-old has yet to be included in a matchday squad for the Reds after putting pen to paper just before the January transfer window closed.

He was involved in a behind-closed-doors practice game against Norwich City at the City Ground last week, and started for the Under-23s when they faced Reading on Monday night.

Having made 22 appearances for French club Dijon in Ligue 1 prior to his move Trentside, Forest head coach Steve Cooper says the youngster needs more minutes under his belt before he can be in first-team contention.

Bournemouth boss Scott Parker was “bitterly disappointed” to see last week’s clash with Nottingham Forest postponed.

The Reds were due to take on promotion rivals the Cherries at the Vitality Stadium in a crunch match at the top end of the Championship.

But the game was called off at 4pm on Friday, less than four hours before the scheduled 7.45pm kick-off, with Bournemouth citing damage to their ground caused by Storm Eustice.

"Everything was done,” Parker told DorsetLive. “We were here (at the Vitality Stadium), we were preparing for the game and obviously bitterly disappointed.

The next few weeks have the potential to be defining ones for Nottingham Forest in their bid to finish in the Championship’s top six.

The Reds have five league games and an FA Cup tie to play before the "milestone" of the next international break in mid-March.

Come that point, the table could look very different as Steve Cooper’s side aim to put a positive run of results together - starting against Bristol City this weekend.
