Boreham Wood shock Bournemouth to reach fifth round

Boreham Wood recorded a huge FA Cup upset as captain Mark Ricketts' first-half goal saw them knock out Championship high-fliers Bournemouth.

The English National League side will now travel to Premier League Everton in the fifth round having not conceded a goal in their five matches in the competition so far, with this momentous win extending their unbeaten run to 17 games.

All of the club's players and coaching staff raced across the field to celebrate a 1-0 victory they richly deserved with the jubilant travelling supporters.

Boreham Wood showed few signs of nerves in the early stages and even gave their hosts a scare as Josh Rees tripped over Nathaniel Phillips' outstretched leg cuing mass appeals from the visitors. Referee Graham Scott was unmoved.

The Wood have the best defensive record in the top five leagues behind Manchester City and they set up to frustrate the Cherries. Unbeaten in 16 games, they were by no means overawed on their trip to the south coast.
