Bolton Wanderers player seals loan exit

Bolton Wanderers defender Adam Senior has joined National League North side Chorley on loan for the rest of the season. 

Wanderers have allowed the 20-year-old defender to join the promotion chasing side in order to further his level of first team experience. 

Bolton boss Ian Evatt believes it is a move that will be beneficial to the young defender.

“It’s a local club we know well with a manager I know well and we can keep a close eye on him,” said Evatt via the Bolton club website. 

“Adam needs to continue his development by playing regular first-team football and it’s a good move for all parties.” 

Senior came through the Bolton Wanderers academy and made his club debut in 2019 when financial difficulties meant they were forced to field academy players in the first team.

Senior signed his first professional deal with the club in May 2020, a one-year deal that was renewed ahead of the 2021/22 season.

This season, he has had loan spells in the Northern League Premier with Ashton United and with York City in the National League North.

After returning from his York City loan, Senior started two games for Bolton over the festive period, but the loan signing of Adam Fossey and Gethin Jones’ return from injury have seen Bolton’s defensive options bolstered in recent weeks.

This has seen the young defender become surplus to requirements and why Bolton have felt the need to send Senior out of the club in order to get first team minutes.

Senior’s debut for Chorley, who currently 5th in the National League North, could come as soon as tonight, when they face fellow promotion contenders AFC Fylde.
