Bolton Wanderers boss Ian Evatt makes Charlton Athletic assessment as transfer admission made

Ian Evatt believes the clash against Charlton Athletic presents a tactical challenge for his Bolton Wanderers side and hopes transfer deadline day did not distract too much from the preparations for this important encounter.

The transfer window slammed shut yesterday evening as Wanderers prepare to face the Addicks at the University of Bolton Stadium this weekend. They will be aiming to get back to winning ways in League One following back to back defeats against Sheffield Wednesday and Plymouth Argyle.

The Addicks sit eighth in the table and a point ahead of Wanderers in the standings at this early stage of the campaign. Evatt is expecting a tough encounter to start off a challenging September for the Whites which will also see them take on the likes of MK Dons and Peterborough United.

He said: “[Deadline Day] can be a bit of a side show and we are trying to prevent it from happening that way,” said Evatt.

“It is an important game for us. We have got a big month coming up, some difficult games. [It has been] a really tough start.

“I said all along that I think after the start we have had by the end of September, if we are anywhere in the top 10 we are well poised for a big push. That remains the case.

"They try and dominate possession and they build from the back. They back each other and trust each other on the ball.

“I think they have got a lot of threats, especially in the wide areas and with the pace. It is going to be a tough game.

“A tactical game, but a tough game for both teams and hopefully we will be on the better side of those moments we have been speaking about."

Wanderers have eight points on the board
