Bob MacIntyre hails the 'one kiss' of luck that sent him on his way to dream triumph at the Scottish Open

Bob MacIntyre admits his huge slice of fortune on the 16th hole was the "one kiss" of luck he needed to get his hands on the Scottish Open at the Renaissance.

The Oban golf star put last year's huge disappointment of missing out on the title to Rory McIlroy by the slimmest of margins behind him by out-scoring Adam Scott on the final hole to get his name engraved on the trophy. MacIntyre described his shock at the bizarre event and believes the free drop gave him the momentum to finish the game strongly and win the Open.

Speaking to the media, he said: "I'm shouting and swearing getting up to the ball because I knew it was my one chance to make birdie.

"I thought 'no way', I've got a sprinkler underneath my foot. I said to Mike, 'am I standing on that sprinkler?' He laughed and said 'yes you are'.

"You use the rules to your advantage. It was the one kiss [of luck] I needed."

MacIntyre, who will now carry that success into The Open at Royal Troon next weekend, added: "I think I lost my voice after the scream on that hole. I thought I was short. Look, I've put a lot of work into this. I've changed a lot within the team and I've
