Bob MacIntyre throws dreadful Open in the BIN as he gets brutally honest over Troon struggles

Bob MacIntyre admits a terrible Open week has gone straight in the bin.

The Scot was unable to mount a genuine challenge for the Claret Jug as he struggled to master windy Royal Troon. MacIntyre was buffeted out of contention to finish the 152nd Championship at nine-over par.

The Oban star put plenty into his emotional Genesis Scottish Open success the previous week and the subsequent celebrations take some toll on his efforts. “Physically I’m fine, but mentally I’m gone. Sunday night probably took a lot out of me. It was worth it. You’ve got to celebrate special wins. That was outrageous.”

MacIntyre will now take a break and draw breath before his next outings as he said: “I’ll take two weeks off, I’ll go play the final four in America, come back after that and play the end of the year in Europe. Probably Irish, Wentworth, I don’t know what else, plus Madrid, Dunhill. But I don’t want to overplay, as well. I want to put my feet up at some point.

“Right now, I’m fresh
