Bob MacIntyre went absolutely wild after his emotional Scottish Open triumph.

But the chilled-out home hero insists his spikes are firmly back on the deck as he sets about sparking another massive party at Royal Troon. MacIntyre’s delayed arrival into Ayrshire was understandable. Having won at The Renaissance, he promised to celebrate hard and did just that. It was a special career moment and he was not about to just let it slip past.

MacIntyre knows he has to keep a lid on the Claret Jug hype and he’s doing it. He says there’s zero expectations again and is staying calm in the chaos. But that wasn't the case last Sunday night as he went for it and explained: “Look, I’m not a big drinker. But, when you get moments like that that’s a childhood dream and a lifetime goal and you’ve got family and friends there that have backed you since you were a young kid, I think it was quite right to go absolutely wild. I think we did a good job of that.

“After this week’s over, I’ll sit down with my team and we’ll reflect on it and probably celebrate again because, again, it was a lifetime goal of mine. It was a great celebration and it’s one that I would do all over again, to be honest with you. It was a great night.

“Everyone that was there that was involved was brilliant. It was just one of those great nights. A special one for friends, family, and the staff around me.

“It’s a memory that I’ll have forever. It was the one I wanted and I’m glad I got that one. It was just unbelievable. But it’s all about coming here this week. I put last week behind me. Before I peg it up, that will be gone. I’m onto a new week.”
