Salford drivers warned of delays on major road as new crossing and lights installed

Drivers of Salford have been sent a warning, with road disruptions expected over the next six weeks.

Salford City Council announced that construction of a new puffin crossing around around Worsley Brow that has been scheduled throughout the school holidays. The installation of the new crossing is set to take place between the hours of 9:30am and 3:30pm

The City Council have planned to undergo these developments outside the school term, hoping to minimise traffic during rush hour.

With the developments to the road starting on the July 22, residents should expect disruptions for up to six weeks. The planned completion date is August 30.

Residents should expect possible traffic restrictions which will include lane closures on Worsley Brow, Worsley Road, Barton Road, M60 slip road and Court House roundabout. The planned installation will replace the controversial temporary lights at the Court House roundabout, that were introduced in February 2023.

With some complaints registered to the council, they have offered reassurance that the permanent alternative will be more stable in regards to functionality. The trial of the temporary solution was used in an effort to balance the flow of traffic around the roundabout, improving safety for approaching vehicles.

With Salford City Council working alongside Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) to make sustainable transport more accessible and reliable, they have since ended the trial and gone for a more permanent alternative.
