Blackstone Edge fire LIVE updates as crews begin second day tackling huge beauty spot blaze
Firefighters are in attendance at a Rochdale beauty spot after a blaze broke out last night.
Crews descended on Blackstone Edge, in Littleborough, at around 9.45pm on Thursday evening (March 27).
Images from the scene show flames soaring from the area, with the fire visible for miles around.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) says crews remain in attendance this morning (Friday) to finish tackling the fire.
A force spokesperson said: "Shortly before 9.45pm yesterday evening (Thursday, March 27 2025) two fire engines from Rochdale and Bolton North Fire Stations were called to attend a fire on moorland near Blackstone Edge Reservoir, Littleborough.
"Firefighters arrived quickly and worked alongside colleagues from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service to extinguish large parts of the fire.
"Crews remain in attendance to completely extinguish the fire and to ensure the area is safe."
Details about the fire's cause are yet to be confirmed.
