Blackburn Rovers will look to repeat loan success in the summer transfer window
Blackburn Rovers' Director of Football Gregg Broughton says the club will look to strike gold in the loan market once again this summer.
Recruitment is the key focus over the next month at Ewood Park as Broughton, together with his new management team led by Jon Dahl Tomasson, looks to bring in the necessary quality. Rovers have lost some key players and they will need replacing adequately.
A new Head of Player Recruitment will succeed John Park - who has now officially left his post after one year with Rovers. Broughton and Tomasson will play a key role alongside the new-look recruitment team and the recent success with Jan Paul van Hecke, Harvey Ellliott, Reda Khadra, Tosin Adarabioyo and others makes the loan market an attractive proposition.
Broughton said, when asked if Rovers will look down that avenue again, said: “100 per cent. We would always prefer to sign a player permanently and we’re developing the player for Blackburn Rovers rather than another club.
"But also, we have to be aware of the riches the Premier League clubs have within their Academies. Great depth of quality, and if there’s someone there we feel can come in and make an impact, maybe help fill a gap until one of our own Academy players is ready, then we’d be stupid not to look at that.”
He added: “My role now is purely going to be focused on player recruitment, over the next few weeks and months. I’ve met with the Academy staff and got their opinions on which players are well thought of, and we’re taking a large group to Portugal so we can have a look, and make sure we’re looking internally before we look externally.
