Birmingham manager responds to Manchester United and Hannibal Mejbri loan links

Birmingham City's manager has spoken openly about the possibility of signing Manchester United's Hannibal Mejbri on loan this season.

The 19-year-old went on tour with the United squad during pre-season and featured in their last two games against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa. Hannibal joined the Reds from Monaco three years ago and made two Premier League appearances last season.

The Tunisian is now being linked with a move away from Old Trafford as Erik ten Hag looks to find the best way to allow the midfielder to develop. At just 19 years old, United are clearly trying to find a way to get more playing time under his belt as the start of the new season approaches.

The latest update on Hannibal's future has linked him with a move to Birmingham following comments from their manager, John Eustace.

Speaking to Birmingham Live, he said: “I am sure we are being linked with a lot of players, I know Hannibal is a very good player, Man United have got some fantastic young players in their squad.

“We had a fantastic one [Tahith Chong] come to the club last year and did very well. Listen, if good players are linked to Birmingham City that’s good for us.”

Both sides will be eager to clarify the youngster's future ahead of the September 1 transfer window deadline. With a host of Championship clubs competing for his services next season, the future looks bright for the talented midfielder.
