Birmingham fans rave over Manchester United loanee Hannibal but he's 'pelted with missiles' by opposing fans

Manchester United youngster Hannibal Mejbri is never far away from the drama at loan club Birmingham City and was at the centre of attention again during the Blues’ 1-0 win away at Millwall.

The Tunisia international has enjoyed a fruitful season at St Andrew’s and has become a fan favourite during his stay. He has been instrumental in helping Birmingham avoid relegation to League One this season, with Tuesday’s win confirming their safety.

Hannibal has bagged a goal and six assists in his 38 outings this campaign, of which 22 have been starts. The marauding midfielder came on for the final 12 minutes in the victory over Millwall and made a significant cameo impact.

In stoppage time, the 20-year-old fended off a number of home players before being grounded and winning a free-kick before jeeing up supporters. The atmosphere within The Den was fiery with Millwall looking to secure their place in the play-offs.

Hannibal supposedly turned this up a notch when he confronted the Millwall crowd, riling them further with their side behind. He was then ‘pelted with missiles’, according to one journalist.

Birmingham ultimately held on for the win and Blues fans raved over the United star’s role in it.

@thejuppster: Can’t help himself because that’s exactly what we needed at that moment. The guy is an absolute legend

@sgc101: Old school. Loved it. Up the mighty Blues.

@mullerBiker: His passion though, got to love him.

@MichaeltParry: He’s been winding people up all season. I don’t think we have a chance of keeping him but my word, what a player. Love him to bits and will be sad to see him go.
