Birmingham City fans respond to Lee Bowyer payout claim with message to owners

Birmingham City fans have been responding to fresh claims that Lee Bowyer will pocket a £750,000 if he is sacked as manager.

The Blues boss has come under pressure at St Andrew's after just three wins in 2022 and was denied a much-needed victory against Millwall on Saturday as Gary Rowett's side snatched a 2-2 draw. Bowyer admitted after the 6-1 thrashing at the hands of Blackpool that he was "no quitter" in what has been a tough season on and off the pitch for Blues.

Now the Sun has claimed that it will cost Blues three-quarters of a million pounds if they are to fire Bowyer and will need to pay up the remaining year of his contract. Birmingham fans have been quick to respond and here's what they had to say on social media.

"So we sack him at the start of next season and lose nearly a million of our season budget. Or risk it for another season and potentially go down and lose much more in revenue. Bleak."

"Give him another season and see where Lee can take us, a manager needs time. I think he can do okay for the Blues. Changing manager every season is counterproductive."

"Maybe keep Bowyer and give him said money and then some to strengthen the team."

"The fans don't want Bowyer gone. They can see the style of play improving and with the defence sorted in the summer we can look forward to next season."

"That is also why they shouldn't sack him... these huge payouts are ridiculous and are probably a huge contributing factor to our overspending. It's why we seem to have no money to work with because it's having to be spent on payouts to the constant managers coming in and out of the club."
