'Better option' - Manchester United fans send Erik ten Hag transfer message amid Axel Disasi reports

Manchester United fans have sent a message to Erik ten Hag after reported target Axel Disasi was linked with a move to Newcastle.

The Monaco defender has been tipped to move to Old Trafford in recent weeks. However, Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg now claims Newcastle United are favourites to secure his signature.

Eddie Howe's side are said to be 'pushing a lot' for the 25-year-old as they prepare for Champions League football. United reportedly remain interested but cannot bring in a centre-back until they offload Harry Maguire.

Uncertainty surrounding the 30-year-old's future could see United miss out on a defensive target, but supporters have already identified Nice star Jean-Clair Todibo as a better option.

United have been linked with Todibo in the past, with reports in May claiming that the Reds were one of several sides to have sent scouts to Nice. Newcastle were also touted as potential buyers, as were Liverpool.

The 23-year-old has played 103 times for the French side, having initially joined on loan in February 2021 before his move was made permanent the following summer. He has also played for Barcelona and Benfica and is a former France under-20 international.

Ten Hag is expected to hold off on defensive reinforcements, with the Dutchman keen to strengthen other areas of his squad. United need a first-choice goalkeeper and a world-class No.9, setting their sights on Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund.
