Ben Doak rues his Liverpool 'sitter' as Scotland kid's standards kept high by constant Andy Robertson reminder

Ben Doak reckons it's been a whirlwind few months at Liverpool but he can't believed he missed a sitter on his Anfield debut.

And the Scotland Under-21s wonder-kid has taken Jurgen Klopp's men by storm this season, featuring alongside world-beaters Mo Salah and Virgil Van Dijk in the dizzying heights of the English Premier League and making his Europa League debut for the Reds. It has led to the Tartan Army wondering when former Celtic star Doak, who Steve Clarke admits is playing well beyond his years, will get his chance with the senior squad after dazzling with Scot Gemmill's side.

Doak himself reckons the pathway travelled by the likes of Kieran Tierney and Liverpool mentor Andy Robertson from unders to Hampden Park gives the young contingent motivation to be better. He revealed his Anfield first start was taken in by none other that his grandfather, but that he missed a pinch much to his dismay. He told the official Scotland Youtube channel: "Now I'm training with them every day (Liverpool first team). I'm trying to learn off them all, some of them are the best in the world.

"My grandad was at the Anfield game (first start). Really enjoyed it, the crowd was electric. Missed a sitter though, need to start scoring. It's a challenge I need to rise up, I just need to learn off them (Liverpool team) that's how I will get there."

On Robertson, he added: "He's done everything in the game, won everything. He keeps me grounded."
