'Be patient' - the £53million Man City question that is yet to be answered

Matheus Nunes put everything on the line to join Manchester City.

He went on strike at Wolves, just a year after moving to the Premier League, after hearing of City's interest. Nunes refused to train until the Blues' offer was accepted and he burned all bridges at Molineux to force through a move.

It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, he thought. When would he ever get the chance to play with the treble-winners and some of the world's best again? But was it the right choice?

Nunes has 28 appearances to his name since swapping 'Old Gold' for Sky Blue, with just 16 starts. He is not in the category of starting big games, however, with Mateo Kovacic drafted in if one of the more established names are out. The list of opponents he has started against tells a fairly clear picture - Burnley, Everton, Wolves, Bournemouth, Luton and Nottingham Forest in the Premier League. Red Star, Young Boys, FC Copenhagen and Urawa Red Diamonds in international competition, Huddersfield and Luton in the cups.

His nod at home to Copenhagen in the Champions League last-16 second leg is probably the highest-profile game he has been trusted in, and even then City had a 3-1 lead from the first leg. He has zero minutes against Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester United; and just 22 against Arsenal and only because Rodri was suspended. He was an unused substitute in both games against Real Madrid.
