BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Tasha Ghouri explains reason for show change as she's praised

Tasha Ghouri has explained the reason behind a change she has made for herself on Strictly Come Dancing as she was flooded with praise for bringing deaf awareness to her fans.

The former Love Island star is currently impressing in the ballroom alongside professional dance partner Aljaz Skorjanec. The latest live show of the BBC One dance contest, which was the annual Movie Week special, saw the pair top the leaderboard after scoring 34 out of a possible 40.

The marks came after Tasha, who was Love Island's first deaf particpant, and Aljaz performed a "moving" rumba with professional partner Aljaz, who has returned to the hit show after a two-year hiatus - to What Was I Made For? by Billie Eilish from the Barbie movie.

But away from her stunning performances, Tasha has opened up about her personal journey of being deaf and having a cochlear implant. She took to social media to answer some of the most asked questions she's recieved from fans as each week she shares a clip of herself bedazzling her cochlear implant to match her Strictly looks.

“I’ve had a lot of questions on how a cochlear implant works, what it is and I’ve tried to keep it short and concise with as much information to help you understand what it is," Tasha shared with her 1.4 million followers.

"Everyone’s experience is different with cochlear implants - I’m speaking from my own experience," she added, finishing with: "Hope this helps and anymore questions please ask away."

Tasha admitted that wearing the implant can sometimes be overwhelming, especially when she feels overstimulated or experiences headaches. She also explained how she adapts to everyday life
