BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Dr Punam Krishan dazzles fans with 'first' as she's dealt blow

Dr Punam Krishan was flooded with compliments as she dazzled fans during a 'first' away from training for Strictly Come Dancing. The practising GP got some time away from the training room as she and dance partner Gorka Marquez headed to the Pride of Britain Awards earlier this week.

The stars of the BBC One dance contest were out in force at the emotional annual event on Monday night (October 21) alongside a whole host of famous faces as they gathered together at The Grosvenor House Hotel in London to celebrate a number of the country's unsung heroes.

Following the event, Dr Punam took to social media to reflect on the special evening, which the Morning Live star said was her first time hitting the red carpet.

Alongside a video of her posing for the camera as she showed off her beautiful black and gold sari for the occasion, while her locks were pulled back into a ponytail and accessorised with large triangular earrings, she said: "Last night I attended the prestigious @prideofbritain awards.

"It was an incredibly special, emotional and humbling evening where the stories of real heroes were shared. I got to meet the most beautiful, inspiring people who are doing incredible things everyday to make this world a better place."

She added: "This was my first red carpet event and I wanted an Indian inspired look for it. As soon as I saw this sari, I knew it was perfect for the occasion and this whole look came together thanks to these amazing people who I want to give a shoutout to Sari: @bibildn @marnikaurcouture Tailored by: @manojmakwanadesigns Hair and make up: @officiallubnarafiq Styling: @zafshabir."
