BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Nigel Harman warns Claudia Winkleman 'don't' as he explains injury

Nigel Harman was quick to give Claudia Winkleman a warning as he appeared on Strictly Come Dancing after his shock exit. The actor was due to perform during Saturday night's (December 2) live show - which happens to be not only the quarter-finals of the competition but also Musicals week.

Casualty actor Nigel and Katya were expected to perform a Charleston to Step In Time from Disney’s Mary Poppins with his partner Katya in week eleven of the BBC One dance contest.

But, he had to pull out of the show and the rest of the series at the eleventh hour due to an injury. However, it was announced on Saturday afternoon, just hours before the live show, that due to an injury, Nigel had to withdraw from the quarter-finals and the rest of the competition altogether.

A BBC spokesperson said: "Unfortunately Nigel has sustained an injury which means he is unable to perform in tonight’s show and has had to withdraw from Strictly." The former EastEnders star suffered a rib injury, the broadcaster later said.

Nigel was still seen in the pre-recorded introduction for the show, where the remaining celebrities talked about their experience in the competition so far. And he later appeared on the programme to talk to Claudia alongside Katya.

"I'm so sorry... I know you're sad but..." Claudia started to say before Nigel instructed: "Don't make me laugh," before putting his hand under his blazer to hold his ribs. After being asked what had happened, he explained he sustained the injury after jumping off stage.
