BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Gorka Marquez says it's a 'blessing' as he opens up on parenting with Gemma Atkinson

Gorka Marquez has said it's a 'blessing' as he was asked about being a dad. The Strictly Come Dancing star implored his followers to ask him some questions as he killed some time while waiting for his next flight to Madrid where he appears as a judge on the Spanish version of the BBC dance show.

Gorka's new job, which he excitedly revealed earlier this month days before he made his debut on the panel, means that he spends a little bit of time away from his family and it's no surprise that he gets questions about his fiancee Gemma Atkinson and their two children.

The couple met on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017 when Gemma was a contestant and was paired with Aljaz Skorjanec while Gorka partnered with Alexandra Burke. They went public with their relationship the following year and in July 2019, they welcomed their first child, daughter Mia, together.

Then, in 2021, Gorka, 33, popped the question, to which Gemma, 39, said 'Yes' and they have since welcomed their second child, a son who they named Thiago Thomas Marquez, in July last year.

During his Q&A Gorka was asked: "Best thing about being a dad?" And the professional dancer was quick to gush. Sharing an adorable video of six-month-old Thiago, known as Tio for short, Gorka wrote: "Just being a Dad."

He continued: "I think it is a blessing that not everyone can experience. I am grateful that we have two beautiful kids to raise and watch them grow up and walk by their side and give them the best education, values and life we can."
