BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Amy Dowden says 'it doesn't feel real' as she marks big personal move

Amy Dowden has told fans 'it doesn't feel real' as she marked a big personal milestone. The Strictly Come Dancing star is days away from returning the the ballroom for the first time since undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

But away from dancing, Amy has put pen to paper and wrote her first book, Dancing in the Rain: My story of hope, courage and resilience. It shares Amy's journey from growing up in the Welsh Valleys to dancing on prime-time television.

The synopsis continued: "Through her debilitating illness as a teen and her recent chemotherapy treatment for stage 3 breast cancer, Amy's is a story of an unbreakable spirit with an irrepressible joy for life and dance; she is living proof that our darkest times do not define us."

Amy previously said that she hopes readers will find “solace and inspiration” in her writing. Announcing the news of her book on Instagram earlier this year, Amy wrote at the time: "I’m so excited to share this… My book Dancing in the Rain is coming this September. I had such a blast shooting the cover and I can’t wait to share my story with you.

"From my first dance lesson, I never wanted to be off the dance floor; when the music is on, nothing else matters, and it has been what has kept me going in the toughest of times. Despite facing the relentless challenges of undiagnosed Crohn’s disease and recent breast cancer, my love for dance has remained unwavering.

"In Dancing in the Rain, I share my deeply personal story, which I hope will offer solace and inspiration to anyone navigating life’s storms. I want to remind you that no matter the challenge, the human spirit
