BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Amy Dowden dazzles fans as she gets 'new role' on show after health setbacks
Amy Dowden has been flooded with compliments from fans as the Strictly Come Dancing star was tipped for a 'new role' on the show. The dancer has been through it this year having been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Amy told in June how she'd been given the diagnosis after finding a lump and had undergone a mastectomy and reconstruction. She later underwent chemotherapy and last month, after eight rounds, she brought tears to the eyes of those around her as she rang the end-of-treatment bell.
However, shortly afterwards as she looked forward to a return to the ballroom, she suffered another setback. Sharing a picture of her wearing a protective boot on her right foot on Instagram, she said she was "absolutely gutted" after fracturing her foot and said: "2023 is certainly not my year, roll on 2024 I say!"

Then last week, Amy revealed she'd been dealt a fresh health blow just three weeks after finishing chemotherapy. In a new Instagram video, the Welsh dancer told fans she was rushed to hospital on Monday (November 27) and diagnosed with a blood clot on the lung.
But after being treated and heading back home, Amy was seen supporting her fellow professional dancers and their celebrity partners during Strictly's quarter-finals on Saturday night (December 2) and has since also made another return to the Elstree studio as this year's Christmas special was filmed.
