BBC Breakfast's Ben Thompson 'speared' by dart graphic as co-star reassures fans

BBC Breakfast's Sarah Campbell had to reassure viewers that her colleague Ben Thompson was safe and well after a visual mishap on-screen.

The presenters were interviewing new PDC World Darts Champion Luke Littler, who clinched the title aged just 17, when viewers spotted what looked like a dart striking Ben in the head on the screen behind them.

One viewer expressed concern: "We were worried about that! We thought Ben had a 'Double 10' on the back of his napper." Another viewer humorously suggested: "Your presenters should wear hard hats.

"Doctor I feel a sharp pain at the back of my head," prompting Sarah to respond with a laughing face emoji, reports the Express.

A third relieved fan responded with a smiling face and thumbs up emoji, comforted by Sarah's clarification. Fans also celebrated Luke's victory, with one commenting: "What an amazing final, and what an incredibly talented man."

Echoing the sentiment, another fan added: "Now and again a person injects life into a sport, Lake Littler has done exactly that for darts! Sarah." While speaking to Ben, Luke was asked about his remarkable win at such a tender age.

The BBC host asked: "Luke, the title, youngest ever PDC World Darts Champion, you're 18 in a couple of weeks, a lot of people talk about your age and being able to be win such an amazing achievement at your age, does that ever go through
