Ebarentonbofa, Ajayi lead Benin Club golf section
Stephen Ebarentonbofa, an engineer, has been elected as the new captain of the Benin Club Golf Section (BCGS), just as Stella Ajayi will serve as the lady captain of the club.
Ebarentonbofa and Ajayi, who were vice captains of the golf club, were automatically elevated to their new positions. But other officers had to go through keenly contested elections to bag their positions. They were sworn in to lead the club for the next one year at the weekend in Benin.
The elections held at the club house had 202 members accredited to vote by the electoral committee headed by Osagie Nehikhare, a former captain of the club.
Elected as the new vice captain of the club is immediate past secretary, Victor Oriasotie, who defeated another former secretary, Osazuwa Ehiorobo, to bag the position.
The new treasurer of the club is Emmanuel Usoh, who beat Enoma Enomase to the position, just as Taofeek Ejalonibu was sworn in as the Competition Secretary after defeating Jude Igbinadolor to clinch the post.
Godwin Imaidiyi will serve as the course officer following his victory over former holder of the position, Eghosa Otabor, while Dr Chukwunonso Ndekwu beat Charles Ikechukwu Egbuziem to become the new house officer.
Other officers sworn in to serve the club for the next one year are Dr Anslem Dere and Benjamin Okonofua, who were elected unopposed as treasurer and caddie officer respectively.
Speaking after assuming his position, the new captain, Ebarentonbofa, said that he is prepared for the task having served as vice captain for two years, adding that the new administration cannot afford to do less the its predecessor.
