Barry Robson sees missed Rangers claim rubbished as angry Aberdeen boss makes beeline for Nick Walsh
Barry Robson reckons the Rangers penalty award was soft but the pundits were left miffed by a missed flashpoint the Aberdeen boss claims to have spotted.
Robson was quick to confront match official Nick Walsh as Rangers were awarded their tenth penalty of the Scottish Premiership season to rescue a point through James Tavernier. A shirt pull on Connor Goldson was sent for a VAR review with Walsh pointing to the spot, but after questioning the decision the Dons boss shook the official's hand before exchanging words, as picked up by the Sky Sports cameras. Robson was seen shaking his head as the spot-kick was given against his side but wasn't asked what was said with Walsh on the pitch.
He reckons there was one missed by the officials after the injury time penalty with Dante Polvara involved in a challenge with Goldson. He told Sky Sports: "Where do we go? Are we going to stop the game all the time? When you see it he's been blocked, if we're giving penalties for these fouls where are we going with this?
"What I would ask as the manager, so VAR checks that, why did it not check Goldson on Polvara right after it? That's my question. If we're going to check everything, we have to do it right. The big thing is he's been blocked, we're seemingly not allowed to block now are we? Where does he go with it? Do we just say 'right, just let him run'. I think it's soft and the VAR has checked it, it's gone against us. If we check that, let's check the other one a few minutes later."
Yet the incident mentioned on Polvara was rubbished by the Sky Sports panel as Kris Boyd said: "What are we looking at here?" while Sutton agreed there was nothing to do. Former star Joe Lewis also concurred adding: "I don't think he's got a point there,
