Barry Robson hails deadly Duk as Aberdeen kickstart season with Ross County rout at Pittodrie

Delighted Barry Robson praised Duk for getting his and Aberdeen’s season up and running.

The frontman finally opened his campaign as he helped the Dons to their first Premiership win of the season. Duk, who netted 18 goals last season, had been 15 games without a goal but that changed in the 4-0 dismantling of Ross County, as Bojan Miovski also netted a double and Jamie McGrath also got in on the act.

Robson stated: "His contributions have been great all the time and his numbers have proved that as his high speed running is through the roof. Sometimes it's not easy to score goals but we have helped and supported him and he deserved his goal today. Every striker thrives on goals and he missed a great chance when he tried to dink the goalkeeper in the first half. He's missed a few one-on-ones this season and people get carried away when that happens sometimes.

"It maybe looks like we are not playing well but when the goals go in everybody has a different perception. Obviously Bojan has been in great form and goals change games and we knew performances like this would come.”

Aberdeen have been juggling European and domestic commitments in recent weeks. They came back from a morale-boosting display in Frankfurt to deliver in the league. Now they have to try and produce a repeat on Wednesday as they head to County - this time in the quarter-finals of the Viaplay Cup. Robson is now seeing a structure from his team.

He claimed: "I think that's pretty evident as we saw that in Frankfurt on Thursday as they are good boys who want to keep clean sheets. Structurally we are good but we need to fight on all fronts at the moment and need to keep doing that.”
