Barry Ferguson has Rangers transfer hunch about Lawrence Shankland as he 'expects' Clement to make a move

Barry Fergusons thinks Rangers WILL make a move for Lawrence Shankland this month despite the arrival of Fabio Silva.

The Hearts talisman has been touted as an Ibrox option by the pundits amid his red-hot Tynecastle form. There is already interest in the forward according to Steven Naismith, with the Jambos drawing up a new deal for their star man. Fabio Silva's six-month loan deal from Wolves to Rangers has provided Philippe Clement more Light Blues forward cover but he was coy on Friday when asked directly if he wants another striker.

Danilo and Kemar Roofe are injured while Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers have had patchy form books overall. Silva's move hasn't convinced Ibrox legend Ferguson that his former club won't hunt a striker again and he believes that their next forward move could be the Hearts star. He told Go Radio: "It's good to see Rangers starting their business early and I would fully expect another two or three players in.

"A lot of people may say it might not happen now but I would be surprised, really surprised, if Rangers still ain't interested in him. I think they need another forward.

"If he is going to be at the price of around £2m, I think Rangers would be crazy not to look at it. I forgot that Danilo is out for a couple of months with a knee operation.

"Abdallah Sima has been called up for Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations. I believe Rangers will bring in another centre forward in and I would be surprised if it won't be Lawrence Shankland."
