Barnsley 0-1 Cardiff City: Uche Ikpeazu enjoys dream debut as he nets winner for Bluebirds

Uche Ikpeazu enjoyed a dream start to life as a Cardiff City player as he came off the bench to send home the winner in a 1-0 win over Barnsley up at Oakwell.

It was a drab and dreary affair in south Yorkshire, but Ikpeazu's second-half strike was enough to send the travelling fans into euphoria as they witness their side's second successive win.

It was a case of the debutant's magic touch once again after Jordan Hugill's star turn in the win over Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

What will be even more pleasing to the coaching staff, no doubt, is the clean sheet, the Bluebirds' first since their second game of the season up at Blackpool.

But with six points in three games, and the January signings doing the trick, the weight slowly seems to be lifting off of Cardiff City.

All told, it was a pretty turgid start to proceedings, made worse by an injury to the Bluebirds' captain after just 10 minutes.

Sean Morrison went down following a challenge, clutching his ankle as his lay prone on the ground. The medical team eventually carried him off before he was replaced by Aden Flint.

The Bluebirds and the Tykes traded fairly tame blows in the first half, it must be said. Cardiff's best early chance came by virtue of their brightest attacking player, Tommy Doyle, who sent a shot arcing over the bar from 20 yards minutes after Morrison exited the pitch.
