Man City's 2021/22 player wages after major Erling Haaland transfer update

Erling Braut Haaland is expected to sign for Manchester City in the summer.

According to a report by The Times, those in positions of power at Borussia Dortmund believe that the striker will join Pep Guardiola’s side after being offered an enormous salary package.

Haaland is set to earn in excess of £500,000-a-week if he moves to City and that would make him one of the highest-paid players in Premier League history.

That salary would also make him the highest earner at the Etihad, which is saying something given the money pumped into the club by the owners in recent years.

So just how far ahead of the rest would Haaland be from a wages perspective if he indeed put pen to paper on a mammoth £500,000-a-week deal?

Well, the answer is quite a lot, according to the data available on Spotrac – which we cannot say for certain is 100% accurate.

But if the figures below are correct, a few City players are due a pay rise…

Phil Foden | £12,000-a-week

Oleksandr Zinchenko | £20,000-a-week

Zack Steffen | £46,000-a-week

Joao Cancelo | £80,000-a-week

Gabriel Jesus | £90,000-a-week

Nathan Ake | £92,308-a-week

Kyle Walker | £110,000-a-week

Ruben Dias | £115,385-a-week

Riyad Mahrez | £120,000-a-week

Aymeric Laporte | £120,000-a-week

Rodri | £121,154-a-week

Ilkay Gundogan | £140,000-a-week

Bernardo Silva | £150,000-a-week

Fernandinho | £150,000-a-week

John Stones | £250,000-a-week

Raheem Sterling | £300,000-a-week

Jack Grealish | £300,000-a-week

Kevin De Bruyne | £400,000-a-week

Given their importance to the team and also looking at other players’ salaries on the list above, it’s safe to say Cancelo, Dias, Silva, Rodri, Laporte and Mahrez are a tad underpaid.

On the other end of the scale, Grealish, Fernandinho and Stones are perhaps
