Barcelona 'determined to make' Man City star Bernardo Silva their 'big signing' and more transfer rumours

Barcelona are 'determined' to make Manchester City playmaker Bernardo Silva their 'big signing' in next summer's transfer window, according to reports.

As per Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan club - who attempted to sign the Portuguese international this summer - are still interested in the 28-year-old and manager Xavi will insist that the club returns for the City star next year.

Bernardo is contracted at the Etihad Stadium until 2025, but he is thought to be open to a move to Spain. The report adds that Barcelona will need to 'go all out' for the midfielder from the start of the 2023 summer window in order to secure his services.

The 28-year-old has made 261 appearances for City, registering 50 goals and 54 assists since joining from Monaco in 2017.

Elsewhere, journalist Ekrem Konur has reported that Phil Foden is set to become City's fourth highest-paid player when he signs a new deal with the Premier League champions.

It is claimed that the 22-year-old has 'reached an agreement' with the club over a contract extension worth £250k-per-week. Foden, who has made over 150 appearances for City, is out of contract at the end of next season, and Pep Guardiola is keen to ensure the England international remains at the Etihad.

Foden has registered 48 goals and 35 assists in 179 matches for City - winning four Premier League titles, four EFL cups and the FA Cup.
