Ayoze Perez turns Rangers crybaby as Betis whinger sees handballs everywhere in Europa League ref rant

Ayoze Perez says there's no excuse for Real Betis' exit to Rangers - but immediately pointed the finger at Serbian referee Srdan Jovanovic and lack of quality away goals.

The Spanish playmaker scored one of the goals for Manuel Pellegrini's men but it wasn't enough as Philippe Clement's men prevailed 3-2 on a Spanish night to remember. Rangers banished their Seville blues of 2022 with a Kemar Roofe winner to claim a first away against Spanish opposition for the Light Blues, while also booking their Europa League round of 16 spot with their 3-2 scoreline.

Perez has been left fuming over his strike that would have doubled his tally was ruled out for handball. He admits he did handle but believes another was missed, as he took a pop at Rangers' offensive offerings, despite classy strikes from Abdallah Sima and Cyriel Dessers. He told Diario Sevilla: "Yes, it does touch my hand, but then in the first part there is a hand, in the second there is another hand... The referee's reaction is not even to check it.

"I don't know, details. Sometimes those types of decisions don't help either. I said it to the referees in Prague and in Scotland.

"We are in the Europa League and we also need them. I don't want to make excuses for refereeing, but I'm disappointed.

"We were at home, we depended on ourselves. We concede very easy goals, they didn't do anything out of this world. Scoring two goals and losing says a lot about the fact that we were not focused, they barely scored goals against us and they stuck with it."
