Atlético Talleres ponder second bid for Sheffield Wednesday forward Josh Windass

Atlético Talleres have not given up hope of prising Josh Windass away from Sheffield Wednesday. The Argentinian side have already had a six figure bid rejected for the forward.

But reports in South America have suggested the Primera División side are likely to table another bid this week. Talleres are managed by Pedro Caixinha, who is a big fan of Windass. The pair worked closely together at Glasgow Rangers.

Windass, the son of former Hull City, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Bradford City forward Dean, is contracted to the club until the summer of 2023, although Wednesday do have a one-year extension option as part of the deal. He signed his recent contract back in August last year.

Yorkshire Live understands Owls boss Darren Moore does not want to lose Windass. Owner Dejphon Chansiri has already stated that the club are not under pressure to sell any of their prized assets.

But Chansiri has said: "If we get offers for players that we can't refuse and we believe we can replace them, then we will make a decision. If we don't get good offers or we don't believe we can do better, then we need to weigh things up."

Yorkshire-born Windass, who can be be utilised in a number of different positions, finished the club's top-scorer with nine goals in the 2020/21 season as Wednesday suffered relegation to League One. He particularly flourished after Moore's appointment as manager.

However, a spate of injury problems prevented Windass from making a bigger contribution to the Owls' promotion bid last term. Yet 28-year-old still managed four goals and two assists in his nine league outings.
