Atalanta boss makes Rasmus Hojlund transfer admission after Manchester United talks

Atalanta head coach Gian Piero Gasperini has refused to set a concrete deadline for Manchester United to submit a bid for Rasmus Hojlund.

The manager admitted that this club would have to consider lucrative offers for their striker no matter how late in the window they may arrive. United have already held talks with Hojlund over a potential move after dropping their interest in Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane after coming to the conclusion Spurs would not sell the England captain to a Premier League rival.

The Reds have meanwhile already brought in Mason Mount and are edging closer to a deal for Andre Onana. But a centre-forward signing is viewed as the most important recruit for United this summer.

Hojlund is said to have indicated his interest in a move to Old Trafford although United are yet to table a formal bid. Atalanta boss Gasperini has refrained from setting a cut-off date for the 20-year-old attacker, who scored 16 goals last season.

As reported by Italy24, he said: “Hojlund? Even if we fix a date, put August 15, the transfer market isn’t over. If an [irresistible] offer arrives, the club, the player, decides later.

“Date? I would put July 31 but realistically there is no possibility of putting it, even Hojlund was like this last year, everything is random.”

This year, the summer transfer deadline day takes place on September 1.
