Aston Villa transfer plan hatched as Steven Gerrard could eye Rangers swap

Aston Villa fans are split on whether they would like to see Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos at the club - though a potential theory has emerged.

It has been suggested that Villa could use young striker Cameron Archer as a loan makeweight in a potential deal after he shone at Preston North End in the Championship last season.

Rangers are said to be "open" to an offer for their striker, with Villa among a whole host of clubs from across the Premier League and Europe to have been linked with potential interest. Below is a look at what some Villa fans have been saying about the possibility of the striker coming in.

: Remember Odsonne Edouard, prolific scorer at Celtic - to Crystal Palace, how'd that work out for them? Scots Prem and EPL don't compare, at all

: Not for me too many question marks a bit injury prone attitude problems easily wound up premiership defenders would have a field day will spend most of his time injured or suspended. Much better available. UTV

: Yes like to see Morelos at Villa, should spice the game up a bit in between a few suspensions he will more than likely pick up...Doubt he'd be boring to watch......

: Maybe Archer will be used as a loan make weight while we bring in Morelos? He's not bad, but probably a significant downgrade on Watkins.

: Significant downgrade on any striker currently the club.

: Rather keep Archer

: Cameron Archer and a fee of around £10m would be my guess.
