Aston Villa duo 'want' summer transfers which could force Steven Gerrard into further recruitment

Aston Villa goalkeepers Viljami Sinisalo and Filip Marschall both 'want' a loan move ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

Marschall, 19, made the bench for Villa in the Premier League as they lined up to face Norwich City just before Christmas in 2021. Elsewhere, he has enjoyed a successful loan spell at Gateshead within National League North and could be set to pursue another loan spell for the upcoming season. Whilst 20-year-old Sinisalo joined the academy in 2020 and has spent time on loan in Scotland with Ayr United in 2020, however the deal was cut short due to the player suffering a groin injury in 2021.

Both players have spent time away on loan and could be set to pursue another loan spell for the upcoming season. According to reporter Ashley Preece, both of the young goalkeeping talents 'want' a loan move ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

Villa have secured the long-term future of number one choice Emiliano Martinez until 2027 as well as a solid back-up in Swedish international Robin Olsen. However, if both of the younger prospects in the goalkeeping position do depart the club on loan this summer and with Jed Steer out for the foreseeable future with an Achilles injury, Steven Gerrard's hand could be forced to recruit a third option between the sticks in case disaster strikes in terms of injuries at Bodymoor Heath.
