Aston Villa's mouthwatering 25-man squad if Steven Gerrard can pull off double striker swoop

Put simply Aston Villa are not messing around in the transfer window this summer. Three players have already been signed, sealed and delivered – and more are sure to come.

Villa whipped through their negotiations with Barcelona to secure the services of Philippe Coutinho on a permanent basis. The season had not even finished when they confirmed that news.

Then they started this week by revealing they had agreed a deal to take Boubacar Kamara from Marseilles – and ended it by signing Diego Carlos from Sevilla. Bit by bit, player by player the Steven Gerrard revolution continues.

And it won’t end there – Villa are still being linked with a whole host of reinforcements, not least a couple of strikers, one known very well to Gerrard, the other known and loved by the Claret and Blue faithful.

According to The Telegraph they are ‘exploring the possibility’ of reuniting Gerrard and Coutinho with Luis Suarez, now a free agent after being released by Atletico Madrid.

And 90min.com reckon Villa are one of three teams to have ‘made contact’ with Roma about bringing Tammy Abraham back to Villa Park. Arsenal and Newcastle are also claimed to have done the same.

Abraham was a hit during his loan spell in B6 in the 2018-19 season, scoring 26 goals as Villa returned to the Premier League through the Championship play-offs.

There are no guarantees either player comes, Abraham seems very happy at Roma - but the prospect is mouthwatering – even if it would leave Gerrard with a selection headache – for both his starting XI and even the wider 25-man Premier League squad.

That group could look like this if Villa are able to complete an unlikely double striker swoop.
