Aston Villa player hits back at Manchester United star Jadon Sancho's vow ahead of clash

Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey has hit back at comments made by Manchester United's Jadon Sancho before the two teams meet in the Premier League this weekend.

The 23-year-old said on Friday afternoon via social media that they were disappointed at not winning against Tottenham Hotspur in midweek before suggesting United are out to make things right against Villa on Sunday. Erik ten Hag's team led 2-0 against Spurs after Sancho opened the scoring inside seven minutes before Marcus Rashford doubled the advantage before half-time.

Second-half goals from Pedro Porro and Son Heung-min meant United dropped two points in north London. It is, though, the second sentiment that Bailey has highlighted.

The two players follow each other on social media after previously crossing paths in Germany while Sancho was starring with Borussia Dortmund and Bailey was playing for Bayer Leverkusen. Both are also Nike athletes.

The full caption to Sancho's post read: "Disappointed not to come away with the win last night! Onto Sunday to make things right!" Bailey then replied: "Let’s see about making things right," alongside the eyes and laughing emojis.

The United man has yet to reply himself. That has not stopped several Reds supporters taking it upon themselves to do so instead on the England international's behalf.

In the reverse fixture, Villa opened the scoring through Bailey after seven minutes before Lucas Digne soon added a second from a free-kick.
