Aston Villa have already found Matty Cash replacements amid transfer interest

Atletico Madrid are showing interest in Matty Cash and could test Aston Villa’s resolve this summer.

The Spanish champions are searching for a replacement for Kieran Trippier, who was sold to Newcastle United in the January transfer window.

Atletico boss Diego Simeone is believed to have taken a shine to Cash, 24, due to his impressive form.

Cash is the only Villa player to have started every Premier League game this season, while he made his international debut for Poland in November.

Villa will be able to demand a significant sum of money for Cash should they choose to deal with Atletico in the summer.

Head coach Steven Gerrard would likely seek a high profile replacement, but Villa have two right-backs currently shining out on loan who could stake a claim.

Kaine Kesler-Hayden only recently turned 19 and is viewed by many as the club’s answer in the long-term.

He was handed a five-year professional contract at the end of last season, which shows just how highly Villa’s top brass rate him.

Kesler-Hayden enjoyed an excellent loan spell in League Two with Swindon Town during the first half of the season to earn a move to League One high-fliers MK Dons in January.

After recalling Kesler-Hayden in January, Gerrard said: "I want to see him. I want to see him up close and analyse him up close, and then decide whether he goes back to Swindon or whether he finds a different challenge, or whether we see enough to keep him in because in the full-back areas we're really short.”

A more experienced alternative is Frederic Guilbert, who is having a storming season in France after being allowed to join Strasbourg on loan by ex-boss Dean Smith.
