Aston Villa set to battle Everton and Barcelona for transfer after £40m claims made

Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing Ajax right-back Noussair Mazraoui.

According to Fichajes, Villa and Everton will battle Barcelona for Mazraoui in the summer transfer window.

Having come through the renowned Ajax youth system, Mazraoui has made a total of 125 appearances for the Dutch giants since making his first-team debut in the 2017-2018 campaign.

The 24-year-old will be out of contract in the summer and can start negotiations with clubs about joining for free at the end of the season.

The reports come after Villa right-back Matty Cash has been linked with a move to Spain himself.

The Sun claim that Cash is wanted by Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone to replace Kieran Trippier after the England international left the Spanish capital for Newcastle last month.

The report adds that Atletico are willing to splash a fee in the region of £30-£40million during the summer transfer window.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims that the Spanish club remain 'seriously interested' in bringing him to the Wanda Metropolitano in the summer.

Romano said on Twitter: "Atletico Madrid are seriously interested in signing Matty Cash for next season. Direct contacts started in January and he's still in Atléti list as potential new right back for Diego Simeone, highly appreciated.

"#Atleti Cash will be in Atletico list again for sure."
